Files submitted to the Echo AI platform are handled with strict data retention and security measures to ensure the protection of your information. Below, we outline our default retention policy and the distinctions between different file types.
How Long Are Files Retained by Default?
Audio Files (Non-Redacted): Files submitted to the API are deleted immediately after the transcription process is complete.
Redacted Audio Files: Redacted audio files are retained and available via the redacted audio URL for up to 24 hours, after which they are permanently deleted.
Differences Between Audio and Non-Audio Files
Our retention policy primarily focuses on audio files, as they are processed for transcription. Non-audio files, such as text documents or images, follow similar guidelines and are deleted immediately upon completion of the processing.
Differences Between Redacted and Non-Redacted Files
Non-Redacted Files: Deleted immediately after the transcription is finished.
Redacted Files: Retained for up to 24 hours to allow access via the redacted audio URL, then automatically deleted.
This distinction allows temporary access to redacted files for verification or correction purposes before they are permanently removed.
Can the Retention Period Be Changed?
These retention settings are the default behaviors of the Echo AI API and are not customizable. If your organization requires a different retention policy, please contact our Support Team, and we will explore possible solutions to meet your needs.
